We live in a world which is modern, digitalised and advanced in nature. Our lives are fast paced and we’re engaged in different spheres of our lives at once leading us to multitask almost every time.
In this situation the human tendency of ignoring one’s own emotions and vehemence has doubled. We often put a Bandage around a mental wound without applying a first aid. At the same it, in case of a physical wound, we apply first aid, go to a professional and get it treated. In this process, we don’t mind spending a good amount of money. We are also sympathised by our people. All of this only because it is visible, more evident and easily detectable. When it comes to a mental wound, we’re scared to seek help or even speak out to our dear ones. We are scared to lose our family prestige or self reputation in our society. We’re taken aback due to fear of judgement. We either deny or suppress our affliction.
It is high time we realise that mental health is as important, or probably more important than our physical health. We need to get rid of this social taboo as soon as possible to help people heal, to help people take up this field without any hesitation. If we still do not apply the first aid, every time we open the bandage, bleeding will continue. Hence, speak up,seek help or else the process of healing will remain stagnant.
