I have seen most of the people having a negative mindset regarding the situations that they encounter in life. There are only a few people who have a positive outlook on a particular situation that they come across. Having a positive outlook is very important in this over-scheduled life so as to stay happy. When you try to make an effort to be happy you will have a healthy mind.

 Let me give you an example:

 I have seen a woman who used to dig up sadness even out of happiness. 

She used to always feel that something wrong is going to happen to her and also believed in a myth that says “when you laugh a lot, the next moment you will start crying”. She was never happy. She had a good family who used to take care of her and was also in a very prestigious position but never enjoyed her life that she was gifted with. I felt she restricted herself from happiness. And this eventually led to stress, overthinking, and was prone to depression as the days passed by.

 They are many people who say, 

“I want to be happy but I am unable to stay happily”

“There is no happiness in my life”

“I am an unlucky soul”

So here are a few tips that you need to follow in order to be happy 

Find joy in simple things:

Often little things are not noticed. Finding happiness in simple things is the best way to stay happy. It’s not always necessary to find happiness in great success. Simpler things as in walking in your garden, looking at the fresh flowers blooming early in the morning, looking at the greenery around. All these things give a lot of pleasure to your mind and soul but all these are overlooked. Start observing these simple things around and stay happy.

Positive outlook:

We often encounter many challenges in life and are prone to sadness when we are not successful in the given task. Take it positively, learn from it. Work on it and improvise your skill in dealing with the particular situation rather than thinking “I am useless”

“I am not worthy of anything”. Everybody should learn from their failures and get up and again work on it rather than losing confidence in yourself. Surround yourself with people whom you feel that they give a positive vibe to you and follow their techniques of being happy.  

Appreciate yourself:

Appreciate yourself if you have done something good or have been successful in the given task. The situations might be simple but doing this, as in appreciating yourself will give you immense happiness. You will trust yourself and will also gain self-confidence. Appreciate yourself using phrases like “ wow I am proud of you”, “yes I did it”.  I have personally tried this technique many times with myself. It just boosts your confidence.

Stop overthinking: 

Overthinking destroys your happiness. Often people tend to think too much about the situation that they encountered in the past. Doing this will end your happiness. You just can’t come out of the situation and move forward in your life when you overthink. Your mind gets stuck up and you will not be able to concentrate anymore. So stop overthinking in order to stay happy.

Live in the present:

Living in the present is predominant. I often see people thinking too much about the past and future and forget to live in the present and find happiness in the present. 

Let me give you an example: for instance, you had a bad day at the office and in the evening you have to attend a party.  You will attend the party and still choose to think about the bad day that you had in your workplace. 

Now tell me one thing, will be able to enjoy the party?

Or will you be able to go back to the past, and rectify it and then live in the present? 

do you have that magical stick in your hand?

No right? So there is no use in thinking about the past and forget to live in the present.

Refresh your mind:

Everybody has a hobby. I find pleasure in singing, it just refreshes my mind and makes me happy. I am sure all of you might have some or the other hobbies so give some time to it.

Read a good knowledgeable book and I feel most of us listen to music that suits our mood at that present moment. I feel the music influences our mood. So try to listen to music so as to refresh your mind and to stay happy.

Do not argue:

Be polite. Try to be patient and do not get into violence and arguments as this will destroy your happiness and affect your mood. Try another way around in handling the situation rather than being rude. Doing this will also help you to maintain healthy relationships with your colleagues, family members, and friends. I feel arguing is not only about showing your anger but it’s also about disturbing your healthy mind as it had an adverse effect on your mind.

Spend some time with yourself:

If you feel that you need some space and want to analyze and realize certain things in life. if you find happiness doing this, spend some time with a tasty cup of coffee and do that. Thank god for giving you a beautiful life and also think about the good memories that you had before as this makes you feel happy from within.

Do not regret:

Do not regret the decision that you have taken earlier. If you feel that they were not the right decisions, learn from your mistakes. One thing we all need to remember is we all have committed mistakes in our life and it’s common but remember to learn from it and move forward rather than regretting it. When you regret a lot you start thinking more about it and at the end of the day, you start hating yourself which is not at all good for having a happy mind.
