The edge of life,
the edge of hope,
the edge of reason,
the edge of love.
So tightly I grip
not looking down
testing boundaries
after the shove.
The edge of sanity,
the edge of safety,
the edge of sadness,
the edge of joy.
Treading carefully
I start to tremble
the mind of a man
no longer a boy.
The edge of terror,
the edge of fear,
the edge of doubt,
the edge of faith.
Arising from comfort
the warrior awakens
new boundaries discovered
stepping up to the plate.
The edge of anxiety,
the edge of poverty,
the edge of sickness,
the edge of truth.
Character growing
confidence building
now a survivor
from the tragedy of youth.
The edge of depression,
the edge of darkness,
the edge of terror
the edge of light.
Courage awakened
enlightened and ready
from the edge
I’ve learned to fight.
