“I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.” – Charlie Chaplin
Crying is often considered a sign of weakness and we are taught to hold back our tears. But crying is healthy, it is important, and it is natural – it releases emotional stress and should be considered as natural as a simple smile or an infectious laughter. It is time we un-taboo this natural emotion and consider its benefits for healing and recovery. Crying doesn’t mean one is weak and vulnerable, it means one is strong enough to value this significant human emotion.
“It’s not the tears we cry that hurt us, but the one’s we struggle not to cry for they drip within our sad and weary hearts.” –Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
