1.Eat nutritious food

Eating healthy food is not only important for energy, it is very important for our mind. Always eat a balanced diet. A healthy balanced diet includes:

  • Fruits and vegetables (eg. oranges, apples, spinach, tomato, eggplant)
  • Breads and cereals (eg. milk bread, cornflakes)
  • Nuts and seeds (eg. cashew, almonds, peanuts, pistachios, rice, corn)
  • Milk & dairy products(eg. paneer, cheese, butter, eggs)
  • 8-10 glasses of water per day

Also, limit the amount of caffeine and sugary drinks you have as they can cause sadness, stress and anxiety.

2. Exercise daily

Daily exercising can boost your self-esteem, give you a sense of achievement and improve moods by decreasing anxiety, stress and depression. It also helps you live a longer life. Running marathons or doing daily workouts isn’t required. A short walk or a simple activity will make the difference ?.

3.Sit in the sun

Siting in the sun is a great thing to do for your mental health. Sunlight is the best source of vitamin D. Vitamin D is extremely important for our mental health. It helps our brains release many chemicals that improve our mood (eg. endorphins, serotonin). In cold places, some people experience depression as they don’t get enough sunlight. This is known as Seasonal Affective Disorder.

4.Do something you enjoy

Make time in your schedule to do something you enjoy. If you don’t, then you can experience stress or anxiety. Doing something you enjoy makes you happy, helps you concentrate and boost your energy.

5.Be social

Being social is also quite important for mental health. Connecting to family and friends is important, especially during these times. You can do that using social services, such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, Hangouts and Skype. However, prefer personal face-to-face interactions over online ones.
