Two dark, red lines on the strip
brought her joys unlimited!
Amidst happy tears and waltz,
the ecstatic couple celebrated
She wanted to be a hands-on mom;
Having lost hers, pretty early on.
She left her job, her pride
She did it, her head held high!!
Finally, the lengthy wait got over
She went through a long labour
She was spent, and had nearly given up
When she pushed one last time, feet in the stirrup
Her world came to a standstill-
A part of her was born! SHE was reborn!!
She had never felt such calm within;
She was over the moon admiring his angelic face.
That lovely, lively, tiny bundle was hers
She would bring the world to his feet, she thought.
She held him tenderly, lest he was hurt
She stayed up all night, while he peacefully slept
She promised herself, she would safeguard him
Come what may!
But then, emotional roller coaster shook her up
She was not okay!
His coos would melt her heart
Yet, she would cry at the drop of a hat.
His innocent smile made her euphoric
But her anxiousness made her irritable and frustrated.
Her world had turned upside down
Pain, sleeplessness, mess all around.
Extra pounds, dark circles, scars, loss of hair,
Guilt, loneliness, doubt and despair.
Feeding, burping, cleaning, rocking
Identity crisis through new upbringing.
How she longed for undisturbed sleep,
A long shower and a hot cup of tea.
Completely overwhelmed, she decided to take charge!
From then on, she took power naps to recharge.
She stole moments for some “me” time,
Even warmed her tea, though for the fifth time.
Her hubby listened patiently while she vented,
even encouraged her, while she painted.
She rose! She created her tribe
She rode on: in her journey called LIFE.
