“Life is not a fairy-tale”
Life doesn’t come with a tale of Cinderella for us. It comes with lessons of struggles and rock bottoms and teaches us to look upon ourselves as real heroes.
Why ourselves, you ask?
When we were all young, the small innocent curious kids who didn’t have a clue about life and anywhere we went we were told, ‘This is to prepare you for the real world” we saw many dreams. Because for us, that was what we wanted our real world to be. Life at the simplest, not many hard decisions on our way, not many curves that changed the entire path of our life. instead we had to choose between which M&M’s colour we wanted to eat or which candy colour tongue we wanted.
But then, like everyone kept reminding us the real life happened. We got thrown out to the real world without having a gate to see through and know which place we were heading too. Because you see, even Snow White had her 7 dwarfs along with her and even Pokémon had Pikachu. But when the curves hit us, when the decisions changed our routes and when the direction of the wind got stronger, it all hit us alone. Yes, we had support and friends/ family. But the blow was still ours to take, right?
You tell me, that you saw a dream as a kid and not one of them has changed or locked behind or forgotten? We did, right? We had to make our own choices, prioritize our own goals and while dreams were good to see we had to approach them practically. And over the course of this track, we carved ourselves into heroes
And mind you, heroes are not perfect. You see, when things don’t go your way that is when you learn. And you grow from your imperfections. If heroes never did make mistakes, if they never did make a flip in life, if they never did get pulled down they never would have become a hero.
That’s a similarity between fairy tales and real life. There were mistakes made in both.
Snow White ate that apple, Cinderella lost her shoe, Rapunzel took a leap out, Beauty’s life was with a Beast, Jack lost his beans, Alice fell down the rabbit-hole and Red Riding Hood met a wolf.
You got my point here.
Look, we have all made mistakes, we have made choices, we have all fallen down and we have all take a road that was not taken. But then,
Mistakes made us realize, choices made us decide, fall made us know the value of standing back up and every road has given us a journey to live for. And look at the world the way you want to see it. Look at yourself for the way you are.
And you, you are a goddamn magnificent hero.
I talk about life a lot, right? Because I have realized what it has in store for us. And it’s nothing. No rulebook, no guidelines, no what-to-do and what-not-to-do, no self-lessons, no books or short videos on ‘This is how you do it”
It is a surprise. It leaves us clueless. It is a mystery. It is an entire box with us outside the box. And that’s the beauty of it.
It teaches you to feel, to cry, to smile, to fear, to love, to lose, to grow, to fall, to shout, to dream, to believe, to hope and innumerable more things.
You see, life is what you make it.
And if you want, you can make it into your own fairy-tale. Because if they never did what they did, we wouldn’t dream what we dream.
Be your own hero. Be your own dream. Be your own medal/trophy. Be your own Merit Certificate. Be your own honour. Be your own Happiness. Be You.
