The difference between the ordinary and the extra-ordinary is the *extra*’
This is for someone special. For the ones who have something extra. The children who were born with down-syndrome.
What is down-syndrome?
It basically means that the child is born with an extra chromosome. Due to this, there are slight changes in the orderly development of the body and brain. The extra gene causes intellectual disability and health issues including learning and memory.
Here’s something I’d like to share. Recently I came across a girl. She must be 5 years. A down-syndrome patient. I wouldn’t exactly call her disabled but yes, she wasn’t the same like us. A bundle of joy she is. I met her almost daily. I was aware that she wasn’t like us. But, she never saw me as someone different. She was the same with me like she was with the rest. While me? I saw her with a little extra care and compassion. I was alert with her and always looked at her with different views. It was a tough job to interact with her. Sometimes, we never understood each other. Yet, we still tagged along. She showed me a different definition of happiness. She made me realize that even though we have a stack of unsaid problems, it shouldn’t affect our happiness. She never sat idle. Bursting with energy and an infectious smile, she was the reason of our smiles.
Yes, she wasn’t normal. Yes, we wouldn’t understand what she tried to tell us. Yes, she had problems. But just like all the other ones like her, she was here to make a difference. To tell us that even if they were disabled with few things, they had the ability to do wonders. And, she proved it to me. She showed it to me with her courage and happiness that nothing was impossible.
All that was to be done was to try.
With a young and an innocent heart, she sent warmth across my heart.
