Though it needs love
and kindness abound
though it seeks answers
that need to be found
though it works wonders
don’t leave the ground
beware of the self.
It is a splendour
that inner beauty
it can move mountains
with all than it can be
but when it obsesses
it can be quite deadly
beware of the self.
That inner voice
it can reassure you
that word of sense
of which you can be true
but when it’s demanding
then it will catch you
beware of the self.
A vision of virtue
for when it can mean right
a vision of hope
when things are not so bright
but when ego calls
that’s when you sit tight
beware of the self.
