Real-life experiences always come from multiple perspectives. When you can think about a problem from multiple perspectives to solve, you are on the right path. Perceiving things from other’s points of view is not easy as we might think. Perception can be in different ways and it is possible only when we are ready to stand in someone else’s shoes. It is very significant to empathize with one another in these busy lives. Standing in someone else’s shoes is literally not lending someone’s shoes to wear. It is meant to think and accept other’s situations in difficulties. Barely we can see people who understand other’s points in this highly technical world. Once you start thinking in that way, you will see a difference in your life and you will also be a person who made a difference in others’ life. Everyone has distinct stories for their life.

Consider a psychologist who is dealing with marital issues. Initially, a psychologist must ask their clients to narrate their story to start counseling. When both wife & husband narrating their story or problems they have, the wife explains the story and husband must have told the same story what his wife has said but from a different perspective. The story might have been the same for the psychologist to hear but perceiving the same situations happened to them in the same life is quite diverse. Whenever you are asked to solve a problem or if you have a problem in your life to decide on something, just stop and rethink to take a serious decision. Think until you are very clear about anything you want to make an opinion. Generally, people are always in a hurry to judge. Sometimes we may know only one side of the story which is a small cut. But we never know the other side of the story might have been a stab to death. As we all know that a coin has two sides, similarly a story has three sides – our side, others’ side, and the original truth. A story is always half when one side is heard, so better think before you make a conclusion.

There is a king who always criticizes his employees in the court and gains happiness when ministers feel insulted. One day he went out alone in disguise. In the market, a group of people starts making fun of his attire and laughs a lot. Helpless king could not take any action as he is in a disguise and leaves the place with anger. The next day, the king asks everyone to forgive his mistake and explains what has happened. Ministers forgive the king for realizing his mistake. Until unless the king faced that problem, he did not notice the pain in an insult. So it is very much essential to stand in someone else’s shoes to know what the other person is going through. Sometimes it might be too late to ask for an apology. So rethink before you conclude.

Before you judge someone, stand in their shoes. Feel what they feel right at that moment and then try saying a word about it.
